Congratulations to Alex Cash for getting 3rd place at the Girls 18s Midwest Level 4 Championships in Wisconsin. She won the 4 matches including a 6-4 6-4 win in the 3rd place match.
Congratulations to Kevin Metka and Gabe Higgs for winning the Midwest Indoor Championships prize money tournament. Congrats to Kevin for also sweeping the Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles with Kirsten Flower. Metka defeated Kallim Stewart in the finals 7-6 7-6. All matches in the doubles were won in 3rd set tiebreakers including the finals against Jordan Parker and Bradley Holt.
Congratulations to Robert Cash who won a gold ball, winning the USTA National Winter Boys 14s Doubles Championship with Nathan Jose last week in Arizona. The 4 seeds did not drop a set the entire tournament. They defeated James and Thomas Yu 6-4 6-4 in the finals, who won the Gold Ball at Winters in 2013. In the semis they defeated the 7 seeds 7-6 6-1.
Congratulations to Maddie Atway for winning the West Consolation at the USTA Girls 12s National Winter Championships last week in Arizona. After losing her 1st round match in 3 sets, she won 6 rounds including defeating a seed.
Congratulations to Stu Brdicka and Jordan Phelps for reaching the Finals of the Midwest Boys 16s Doubles Winter Championships in Cincinnati last week. They defeated the 3 seeds and lost 9-7 to the 1 seeds in the Final.
Congratulations to Robert Cash and Jack Dabek who won the doubles at the USTA National Selection Tournament last weekend in Dayton. They defeated the 2 seeds in the semifinals and the 1 seeds JJ Mercer and Anand Saluja in the finals 8-5. This is their 2nd National Open win. Robert also had a great singles tournament, reaching the semifinals and finishing 4th.
Ohio State will host an ATP Challenger $50,000 event later this month. Qualifying starts on September 19th, and the main draw will run from the 21st through the 27th. The event will be held at the Varsity Tennis Center and is free to the public.
