Tyler Stephen has been at the Racquet Club since 2008 and is certified as a USPTA Elite Professional and USTA High Performance Coach. He has presented at USPTA Midwest Conferences and participates in High Performance continuing education.
In his time at the Racquet Club, he has developed students who have won OHSAA and OTCA State Championships, represented the Midwest at Zone Team Championships, and finished National JTT Runner-up. He wants his students to compete daily and encourages multi-sport athletes at a young age to help supplement their athletic skills.
Tyler is also the current Men’s and Women’s Head Coach at Otterbein University. In his six-year tenure, his teams have won 128 matches and have produced 29 All-Conference athletes, including 2 Conference Players of the Year (2021). In 2019, the men’s team had their best start in program history at 14-1 and both the men and women finished conference runner-up in 2021. He was named USPTA Midwest College Coach of the Year for the 2020 season and OAC Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year in 2021.
Before the college ranks, Tyler enjoyed success at the high school level coaching both the girls and boys at Dublin Jerome High School. The girls won four state team championships in his five years with the program and amassed an overall record of 105-3. He was named USPTA Midwest High School Coach of the Year and OTCA State Coach of the Year for his efforts. He has also coached the Midwest Zonals team in Oklahoma City and Kalamazoo (Silver Medalists 2015) and the Columbus area team for the Ohio Valley Cup (Champions 2011-2019).
Tyler graduated from Otterbein in 2008 with a B.A. in Business Administration. He was a four-time All-Conference player competing at first singles in addition to being a three-time Academic All-Conference selection.
